Here are 4 of the most common uses of RLT for pets...
Happy Monday!
Are you more of a cat person or a dog person?
I’m more of a cat person, myself. We’ve got three orange cats. Yes, they’re as dumb as they say and don’t share a brain cell between them. But I love them.
Annnyyyway, we’re bringing up the pets thing for a reason. This week we wanted to do a showcase of how some people are using Red Light Therapy.
Take a look below and see if you get any ideas for your own furry friends.

In all our research about Red Light Therapy, pictures like the ones below continue to surface.
“My precious 15 year old boy loves my wrap.”
The short version answer to the question, “Does Red Light Therapy work for pets?” is yes.
You can use Red Light Therapy with your pets in the same way you would with yourself. For example, arthritis relief (check out the creative use of the facemask).
“My 14 old lady with arthritis loves RLT too 🥰”
4 of the most common uses of Red Light Therapy for pets include:
Joint and Muscle Pain Relief: RLT is effective in alleviating joint and muscle pain in pets, particularly those suffering from arthritis or other degenerative joint conditions. The therapy works by reducing inflammation and promoting cellular repair, which helps improve mobility and reduce discomfort in affected animals.
Wound Healing and Post-Surgery Recovery: Red light therapy is also beneficial for healing wounds and aiding recovery after surgeries. It accelerates the repair of tissues, reduces swelling, and minimizes scarring, making it an excellent option for pets recovering from injuries or surgical procedures.
Treatment for Specific Conditions: Various conditions, such as hip dysplasia, intervertebral disc disease, and even dermatological issues like hot spots, can be managed with RLT. The therapy stimulates the production of endorphins, reduces pain, and enhances the growth of new blood vessels and collagen, contributing to faster and more effective healing.
Muscle Regeneration: For older pets or those with muscle soreness, RLT can aid in muscle regeneration by increasing ATP production in muscle cells, which helps in faster recovery and reduced fatigue.
“My cat loves Red Light Therapy as well.”
So, if you have a furry friend, try setting them up with your at-home treatment and see how they like it. Even if they don’t have a specific issue they’re working on, our guess is they’ll still love the heat and attention.
“My elderly dog with hip dysplasia, that face says everything.”
Science Corner: Red Light Therapy Passes Milestone for Spinal Cord Injury Repair
Researchers at the University of Birmingham have made strides in using RLT to treat spinal cord injuries (SCI).
Their study demonstrated that daily exposure to 660 nm red light significantly reduces tissue scarring and promotes functional recovery. They compared implantable devices and transcutaneous delivery methods, finding both effective.
This approach may revolutionize SCI treatment by integrating light therapy into surgical procedures, potentially aiding nerve repair and reducing inflammation.
