4 Skinny People Habits to Follow to #LoseIt
We found this post on the /r/LoseIt subreddit and thought it was chock full of great weight loss insights. We’ve preserved its first-person writing:
Some of my skinnier friends stayed over at my place for a few weeks while I was dieting.
At first, I was worried that I’d succumb to my bad eating habits and gain weight while they were here… but instead, I actually lost weight.
Anyway, here’s what I noticed about their habits that I hoped might benefit you:
1. When You’re Bored, Don’t Eat to Fill the Boredom
Instead, they opt for movement, but it isn’t something they do consciously if that makes sense. When they feel bored, they’ll pop open a yoga video and follow it, practice dancing, or go out for a walk if the weather calls for it.
This is TOTALLY new to me as I’m the type to get bored and experiment with new recipes and munch to kill the boredom.
2. Have 1-2 Meals a Day and Rarely Snack
Since they’re not preoccupied with food in their thoughts, they just sort of don’t eat?
When hunger strikes, they eat what they’re craving, which is usually proteins or fruits. Don’t get me wrong; they won’t turn down a sweet treat or even a salty snack, but it’s very rare that I see them popping open a bag of chips or a chocolate bar, and when they do, they find it very difficult to finish.
3. Fall in Love with Water
Skinny people LOVE water. While they’re bound to drink juice alongside their food, they’d finish about 2-3 liters of water a day without realizing it. It’s gotten to the point where we’ve all assigned ourselves a reusable water bottle, and they’d fill it 2-3 times a day.
4. Eat Small Portions and Chew a Lot
Another thing I noticed about how skinny people eat is they have small portions at a time.
When it’s time to sit down for a meal, they pick up small pieces and chew them a LOT before swallowing. (My food is barely chewed by the time it’s in my stomach.)
And they really take their time with each meal, lasting from 45 minutes to an hour as they’re eating. They’re not afraid of stopping even when the plate isn’t finished. This is something many can subconsciously struggle with while they’re okay with stopping once full and putting their plate in the fridge for later.
I’m currently implementing all of these, and it’s helped me lose a ton and create healthier habits for myself, thought I could share this with the rest to see if it’ll work out like it did for me 🙏
Ready to Kick-Start Your Weight Loss Journey, But Don’t Know Where to Start?
Losing weight can be a journey of self-discovery and positive change. The basic weight loss equation is to consume fewer calories than you burn every day. If you do this, you will lose weight over time.
